Research Methods Module Week 9

Achievements this week:

 Writing

• Did some plot development in terms of per chapter in detail. Also worked on back story of Carla's Dad/Mr. East/ Mo (Lord Puff) 
• Put Jack, Carla and Freddie into a situation where they just arrive at mayhem marsh, to see how each of them reacts.
• Week-long diary for Jack 
• Started putting together ideas about the main characters' accents and mannerisms
• Developed some ideas for a more simple dissertation question

Reading

• Finished The Secret Garden, Frances Hodgson Burnett
• Started reading Divergent, Veronica Roth

Research 

I tried to start playing World of Warcraft, but it went terribly due to me not having a clue what to do, and my computer being unsupportive.

Watched The Secret Garden to see how Dickon speaks. 




Plans for next week:

• Finish reading Divergent 
• Stop reading so many fiction books and focus on other things! 
• Find a fantasy game for children that I can actually successfully have a go at! 
• Look at some websites of childrens authors - Roald Dahl and Jacqueline Wilson spring to mind- to see how they appeal to kids.  
• Finish the plot plan first draft  
• Read more of A Writers Guide to Harry Potter 
• Freewriting, focusing on trying out the voice and pace of the story, as well as the character voices
• Email some possible dissertation questions to tutors.
